My long experience of making and editing poems and
helping to establish a living environment for poetry in Scotland through the Scottish Poetry Library, as a
Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow, as president of Scottish PEN, in setting up
the Callum Macdonald Memorial Award for pamphlet poetry, and in establishing
the Golden Thread poetry readings during the Edinburgh Festival, gives me an unusual insight
into how poetry can be of interest not just as something to read but as
a way of thinking and understanding in general and as a tool for activists.
Master Classes in poetry, one to one, can be arranged at a fee of £30 for one and a half
hours, working on not more than six poems. Please write, phone or
e-mail to arrange a preliminary discussion if you are interested, so that terms and arrangements can be made.
